About Me:

Ryan Albert Larocque is a Canadian artist whose loose, expressive linework and vibrant colours capture the authentic character of architecture and urban landscapes. Born in Vancouver and now based in Pitt Meadows, he has been drawing since childhood, fascinated by the way places hold stories and personality.

Working primarily with fine liners, alcohol markers, pencil, and watercolour, Ryan embraces the gritty charm of memorable homes, buildings, and “cool places,” favouring honest imperfections over polished precision. His background includes a Diploma in Graphic Design (2003) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an extended Minor in Graphic and Digital Design (2012) from the University of the Fraser Valley, where he focused on painting, photography, and new media. His work was featured in the 2012 grad show Soon This Space Will Be Too Small. In 2016, he earned a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University and now specializes in secondary art education.

Through his art, Ryan invites viewers to see architecture not just as structures, but as living witnesses to human experience — each with its own identity, grit, and story to tell.

“I capture the grit, colour, and personality of places — because every building has a story to tell.”

How I Work

Send me a photo of your home or building, and I’ll create a hand-drawn piece from it. Photos taken at an angle (showing perspective) work best, but I can work from any image you like.

Finished drawings can be mailed or delivered in person (if local). Since alcohol markers may fade in direct sunlight, I recommend displaying a print and keeping the original safe. Scanning and print preparation can be arranged.
